In my opinion the worst movie that I have ever seen would have to be The Wicker Man starring Nicolas Cage. The Wicker Man is a movie about a police man -- played by Nicolas Cage -- who goes to a remote island to investigate the disappearance of his ex-fiancee's daughter only to find out that there are much more to this little town than there appears.
*Spoiler Alert*
The following might give away some of the major plot points in the movie. But since the movie came out in 2006, if you haven't seen it by now then you probably have no intention on seeing it after this review unless you want to see if my review of it being the worst movie ever proves correct or not.
When I went to see the movie in theaters in 2006 with my girlfriend, I thought that it was going to be a pretty decent movie. As soon as Nicolas Cage's character got to the island to investigate the disappearance, its easy to tell that the village is different and kind of like an Amish community -- the way that they dress, no electricity, a lack of technology. But as the movie goes on you can tell that the village practices in pagan rituals and that women have the dominant roles in the village over the men.
The "Oh My God, Really?" Moment
The part of the movie that really made it the worst for me and made me say "Oh my god, really?" it shocked me so much was the fact that it had one of the worst ending that I have ever seen in a movie. We find out that Nicolas Cage wasn't really brought to the island to investigate the missing girl but to take part in the ritual of The Wicker Man. Which is they take a man from the outside world and put him inside a giant wooden man and then light it on fire and the scene ends with Cage screaming and yelling at the women of the village who are killing him.
Of all the ways to end a movie, why on earth would you want to kill the main character. And to make matters worse is that after a few of the credits have rolled by, the movie fades to a scene of two young women, who are from the island, walking into a bar and you know that they are there to find another guy and do the same thing that they did to Nicholas Cage's character.
